Action in Recovery Mental Health Support Groups

Action In Recovery  (AiR) is a support group with a unique purpose, mainly action. Many other support groups out there offer a welcoming environment for folks experiencing addictions and/or mental health issues. Our group, however, focuses on the idea that when people become fully expressed they become more willing to take action in their lives to support personal wellness. We support those who are ready for a change and help them create a plan of action based on their lives. This is conducive to recovery as we all have to choose our own path.

Action is facilitated by conversations surrounding what folks have been doing to support their wellness and what hurdles they are currently trying to jump in order to better support their wellness activities. Goal creation, maintenance, and refining these goals is another large part of the work we do.

More currently:

Prior to setting up this gofundme account we had already made a fundraising push. We have been working online as part of continuing work during the Manitoba COVID-19 lockdown but also to attempt to relieve some of the mental health challenges emerging from COVID-19 isolation as well. We have managed to set up AIR Group as a community organization and so we are about halfway to our NPO goal. 

What we have learned thus far is that setting up an NPO is an evolving journey with many twists and turns that are unexpected. We hope to raise additional funds to ensure our board of directors, change the AIR Groups official company status to an NPO or Charity, whichever is of more benefit to stakeholders, to hold funds for the renewal of the website and for taxation costs, to procure and facilitate the creation of more meetings both in an online and in-person capacity, finally to increase outreach into the community to encourage those who are suffering in silence to join the conversation.
